420 Kingdom Larry Breath Review

Larry Breath from 420 Kingdom is a potent indica-leaning strain known for producing a strong aroma and relaxing body-focused effects.

420 Kingdom Larry Breath is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid originated by Michigan’s ThugPug Genetics through a crossing of Larry Bird (aka Gelato 33) and Mendo Breath F2, a child of the rare Mendo Montage family.

Highly revered for its relaxing body-focused effects and potent buzz, LB has been reported by users to be especially helpful for battling fatigue and stress, as well as increasing appetite. The batch in this handsome little lion-faced jar was produced by premium California cannabis brand 420 Kingdom, based in the city of Arvin, and was grown indoors using a modern aeroponic method. While technically a form of hydroponics, since water is still being utilized to transmit nutrients, this type of growing is done without the use of soil and instead leaves the roots of the plant exposed and hanging, usually suspended in open air during cultivation.

Judging by the quality of products coming out of their kingdom, I would most definitely assume that these guys give all their crops the royal treatment. Let’s see how this compares to other hybrids like Seed Junky’s Blackberry Pie or the nice tasting Jelly Rancher by Flower Company.

Smell

After twisting off the lid, the initial odor from the jar was incredibly bright and gassy, filling my nostrils with an eye-opening cloud of diesel and ammonia shaped by large helpings of sharp citrus and a friendly pine tone that mellowed out the edges, with just a hint of mint tossed into the mix. There was definitely a whole lot of Gelato influence jumping off here, but the Mendo side of the family gave it a really interesting backing that was earthy, floral, a little fruity, and just a bit skunky. Overall, this strain’s smell had a very natural vibe, but also stood out as quite vivid and rather loud. I’m not sure what Larry ordered for lunch, but whatever it was definitely left his breath humming.

Appearance

The surfaces of these medium-sized nugs were layered with shades of tan and cream from an abundance of milky trichomes, along with a spattering of pale apricot-colored hairs woven through deep gray-ish plum tones and varying degrees of lime and evergreen. They were fairly dense and solid like little pebbles without much squeeze to them, but still felt somewhat light and airy, presumably as an effect of the aeroponic process. This left them feeling ever-so-mildly dry on the outside, but still extremely fresh and fluffy when broken open and processed in a grinder. The buds didn’t exactly have what I would call an exotic appearance, but did still manage to do a fine job of looking fancy enough to be right at home inside this jar fit for a king.

Flavour

The taste from the first hit wasn’t quite as gassy as the scent, but still had a strong chemical base, with even more of the earthy pine and herbal notes. The creamy crunch of the gelato bite definitely outshined the sharp citrus tones in the flavor department, leaving behind additional hints of vanilla mixing with slight touches of sage, mint, and that tiny dose of skunk. In case you’re wondering, the dominant terpenes are listed as Bisabolol and Cedrene. Ultimately, the lineage of this breed gave it a mostly sweet and smooth flavoring that held a very natural and familiar grassy edge to it, swirled together on top of a loud but surprisingly pleasant ammonia-like background.

Experience

The batch number was CU-LB-722 and the package date was shown as August 27, 2022 at 9:11 (It didn’t say whether that was AM or PM, but the 9:11 part was oddly specific) THC content listed as 34.46%. The breath of Larry took over quickly, settling onto my dome like a shining crown that was just slightly too heavy to keep from sliding down over my already drooping eyelids. Even though it was ruled by an indica-dominant lean, the initial high was fairly energetic and lifted me off my throne with a momentary boost before shifting into a body wave of semi-numbness, accompanied by a light fuzzy pulsating sensation in the muscles that was so relaxing it almost made me drop my sceptre. The effects had an ultimate slight tendency towards indica, but came with a definite buzzing sativa edge early on in the session, resulting in just enough of a proper balance to leave me quite impressed with the overall nobility of the experience. If you’re looking for a new strain with high amounts of THC and you’re on the West Coast then you might want to check this one out.

As a Northern California native and longtime consumer of cannabis in many forms I've spent endless hours exploring the various brands and products this region has to offer, so I'm here to help guide you through the ever-evolving landscape of the West Coast weed world. From sunny South Cali to the Bay Area breeze and Sacramento trees, all the way up to the emerald glory of Mendocino and legendary Humboldt County, I'll be discovering the best (and maybe not-so-best) buds, concentrates, and extracts being harvested in the Golden State these days. Why? So you don't have to take chances when you're headed out to pick up a fresh drop, of course. Because that's what we do here. It's pretty heroic.

Have your say!
