Back Forty’s Banana OG is an indica-dominant strain resulting from a cross between Banana Kush and OG Kush.
This strain boasts a tropical and sweet flavour profile with subtle hints of cinnamon. The buds are suppose to be a light green in colour, adorned with numerous brown pistils, while offering a visually pleasing experience. With these characteristics, this strain is worth exploring for any enthusiast. Let’s see how it compares to Qwest’s Banana OG or the delicious Banana Purple Punch by Haven St.

Smell
The aroma of Back Forty’s Banana OG is quite distinct and noticeable, with a dominant scent of ripe bananas infused with earthy kush undertones. As soon as we opened the bag, we immediately noticed the fruity aroma that lingers in the air. Surprisingly, the smell of this strain is not overwhelming, but rather well-balanced and pleasant. It has some notable terpenes like beta-myrcene, limonene and alpha-pinene that definitely contribute to the overall experience.
Appearance
Back Forty’s Banana OG was packaged in a silver plastic bag that displayed basic information like the brand and product name, type of flower, weight, and cannabinoid percentages on the front label. On the reverse side, you’ll find a simple diagram that provides instructions on how to open the package. When it comes to the bud structure and trim, there are some noticeable flaws that may disappoint some users. The buds are slightly loose and airy, with some scraggly bits of leaf that were not the most aesthetically pleasing. However, considering the price point, these visual imperfections are somewhat expected. While the bud structure and trim are not the best aspects of this product, it’s not the worst we’ve seen. Don’t expect tight, dense nugs but if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, it certainly delivers.
Flavour
After rolling some of Back Forty’s Banana OG into a joint, we eagerly lit it up and took our first puff. The flavour profile closely followed the scent, with an earthy fruity taste that was reminiscent of ripe bananas. Despite the loose and airy bud structure, the smoke was remarkably smooth and satisfying, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. The burn was also impressive, producing a salt and pepper ash that was indicative of a well-cured and properly dried product. When consumed through a bong or joint, the taste was just as satisfying as its aroma, with the banana flavour carrying over and complementing the earthy undertones. Overall, the flavour and smoking experience was much better than expected.
Experience
Our bag of Back Forty’s Banana OG was part of lot number 22BOG07, packaged on December 27, 2022. With a THC content of 28.79% and a price of $22.95 for 3.5 grams, we believe this product offers exceptional value for the cost. The high induced felt like a indica-leaning hybrid for sure, delivering a calm and pleasant experience that also featured some mild cerebral effects. While the high can be intense for some if overindulged, we found it remained in the medium-to-strong range, making it a great choice for any time of day. Our experience with this product was enjoyable, particularly given its budget-friendly price point of under 23 dollars. We found it to be a worthwhile purchase, and we would definitely consider buying it again in the future. If you’re looking for a strain that won’t break the bank but still provides a satisfying experience, we highly recommend giving this one a try.
