Recently the team at Boundless Technology announced the redesign of their Terp Pen.
These changes were suppose to make the device more compact, lighter and extend the battery life without increasing the price. Sounds like a lofty goal because few companies these days seem to improve their product while lowering the price so it definitely peaked our interest.
We just reviewed their Vexil Vaporizer and the CFX+ vaporizer so the Terp Pen feels like the next logical step. From the description it sounds like this device might make things a bit less messy which would be great because the mess associated with oil and rosin has prevented me from really digging into this category. I’m looking forward to this one and curious how it will compare to Stone Smiths Vaporizers (also made for different types concentrates).

QUALITY OF CONSTRUCTION
The CF 710 model (pictured above) is new iteration of the Terp Pen and supposedly is a third the weight with a longer battery life; however since we never tried the original it’s hard to verify this information.
However it did quickly became obvious the aspect that sets the Terp Pen apart from other concentrate pens is the heating mechanism. Most use the traditional internal ceramic heating chamber whereas the Terp Pen from Boundless Technology uses an external ceramic coil with rollers that can be applied directly to or rolled through the concentrate. The pen is slightly larger than your average writing pen and could easily fit in your pocket or bag.
In terms of construction quality it felt much better then we expected especially given the low price point. We thought it would work for a bit and then burn out much like a disposable pen however to our surprise it’s been reliability working for two months now with zero issues to report.
The battery lasts a long time as well, personally I only use it a couple of times a day but a single charge kept me rolling for well over a week.
EASE OF USE
Simplicity was clearly a priority for Boundless because the design features a minimal aesthetic without even on or off buttons as you activate the device by breathing through the mouthpiece.
It’s hard to think of how they could have made this mechanism any easier to use. Simply remove the magnetic cap, load it up and inhale. Alternately you can inhale and then apply/roll the coil into your concentrate directly depending on your hot or cold preference.
Just like any traditional dab, hot loads typically deliver a much stronger hit, while a cold load might not kick as much but will have a noticeably richer flavour profile. So it really comes down to what you’re feeling at that moment.
OVERALL VALUE
The Terp Pen is available from the Boundless website for $29.99 (USD) plus shipping and includes the device, cleaning brush and USB-C charging cable.
It feels like a steal at under 30 dollar and is really a great device for quick dabs. Plus, it actually is more powerful then the size makes it look and since all you need to do is remove the cap, inhale, and enjoy, it makes smoking concentrates easier without creating a big mess.
If you’re on the fence about trying out the Terp Pen from Boundless, then we’d recommend giving it a try especially with the current price being very reasonable for what you get.
