Cake and Caviar Black Pearl Review

Cake & Caviar presents Black Pearl which is a very strong hybrid that was made by crossing Caviar with Oreoz Dream.

Cake and Caviar Black Pearl is a hybrid cultivar that was created when they crossed the Caviar strain with sweet Oreoz Dream.

From what we could learn, most users described the smell as being similar to a classic kush with pungent, earthy and gassy aroma elements. In terms of appearance, Cake & Caviar report the buds being packed with trichomes, a dank yet savoury flavour profile and a heavy feeling high. It will be interesting to see how this compares to other kush-like strains such as LA Kush Cake or the classic Sour Kush.

After opening the container I was met with a very strong aroma that reminded me of a dank gas smell that tapered off into a spicy and earthy aroma. The smell lingered in the room for quite a while which maybe shouldn’t be all that surprising given the fact this strain leans heavy towards it’s Caryophyllene and Farnesene terpenes.

The eighth (3.5 grams) arrived from Cake & Caviar in a black resealable glass jar with security lid. The label contained the terpene percentages and breakdowns in addition to the overall THC percentage. In terms of the actual flower, I thought the nugs were fairly compact, firm and had noticeable purples spots throughout with a decent amount of bright orange hairs. It’s very easy to see the thick trichome layer which got me excited to light this one up.

With this cultivar, I noticed that different consumption methods had a strong impact on the resulting flavour profile. For example, there was more of a sweet, spicy, woody flavouring when I smoked using my bong. However those same sweet notes became less noticeable when I used my volcano, and the spicy woody made itself felt taking centre stage.

Cake & Caviar’s Black Pearl was listed with 24.35% THC content, 2.34% total terpenes and a price tag of $40.95 for 3.5 grams which given the quality I felt was reasonable. However this one delivered a heavy head high that isn’t for the weak of tolerance. The eighth came with a Boveda pack and terpene shield which did a nice job keeping the flower fresh and it would be nice to see more producers take these same precautions. Long story short, if you’re trying to pick a new strain then this one might be a good choice. If you want to have some fun, then I recommend smoking this strain while you watch the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Cake & Caviar's Black Pearl is a hybrid with complex flavour, 24.35% THC content, 2.34% terpenes and listed at $40.95 for 3.5 grams. Given the quality of this flower I felt the price was reasonable as it delivered a heavy head high that might be too strong for users with low a tolerance. However daily cannabis users are going to enjoy the kick offered by this product.

Coming to you straight out of British Columbia, I have been consuming cannabis since high school and joined the legal market as a budtender in late 2021. Showcasing the craft, the dank, and the shake of the West Coast market. As a daily consumer I go for products that have a tasty flavour profile, deliver a good quality high, with a price point that won’t hurt the bank account. Now let’s blast some Mother Mother and get ready to laugh like Seth Rogen.

Have your say!
