We’ve had a lot of requests to review Gary Payton from Cookies but every time we order it’s been sold out. Perhaps I’m a tad inpatient so we decided to grab Cookies Gary Payton Pre-Roll until the dried flower arrives.
First and foremost this strain is not cheap. Listed at $59.95 for 3.5 grams and $17.95 for a 1 gram pre-roll definitely raises our expectation level. Cookies describes Gary Payton as being a hybrid strain that was created by crossing Y-Griega and Snowman. This flower is known for a very strong gassy aroma, minty green buds, bright orange hairs and a thick layer of frosty white crystal trichomes.
It will be interesting to see how this product compares to Cookies Cheetah P or their recently reviewed Apples & Bananas.
Smell
Due to the flower already being pre-rolled the aroma was greatly affected, however when we cracked open the seal of the plastic container we did note a mild gassy or diesel smell but it disappeared quickly. There are definitely hints of the pungent gassy smell described by Cookies so we will update this section when we review the actual dried flower.
Appearance
Unfortunately because the flower was pre-rolled we were unable to view the buds. However this section will be updated once we receive dried flower and do a full review of this product.
Flavour
Although the smell was mild the flavour did have a bit more punch. The gassy notes are certainly detectable at the start and during the first few inhales, but we found the joint built up a lot of resin quickly which impacted the overall flavour. This strain would probably smoke better in a smaller joint or a bowl.
Experience
Gary Payton from Cookies is just okay – not bad but not great either. Given the listed THC content of 19.3% and the very average high, we feel this product is overpriced at $59.95 for 3.5 grams or $17.95 for a 1 gram pre-roll. We were expecting more after getting several requests to review and because of the higher price. Final judgement will be reserved for the dried flower version of this strain, but in terms of the pre-roll we’d recommend passing as it’s just not worth the money.
