Pure Hemp started making rolling papers in 1996 because they wanted to make a tree-free rolling paper alternative more widely available.
I remember seeing this brand long before using cannabis for the first time so they’ve definitely been floating around my area for a long time. However the truth is we never use them so it will be interesting to see how they burn. From what we can find they’re made of pesticide free and chemical free hemp which is obviously a good starting point.
We’re reviewing their Classic Regular Size which are single wide rolling papers and the ideal size for when you only have time for a quickie.
Let’s see how they compare to classic Zig-Zag White Regulars.
QUALITY OF CONSTRUCTION
According to their website Pure Hemp’s Classic Regulars are made in Spain by Miquel y Costas using ultra thin 13 GSM watermarked hemp rolling paper. Miquel y Costas is a paper mill company that’s been operating since 1725 so they know a thing or two about paper.
For reference, even though the paper is described as ultra thin, it definitely felt thicker then Zig-Zags but not as heavy as something like Players’ brand (which we find to be like cigarette paper).
Pure Hemp’s thickness would be good for oil since tearing should not be an issue.
EASE OF USE
This should be pretty brief because we found these neither easier or harder to roll joints when stacked up against comparable other papers.
But since they’re thicker we feel some new rollers might find this slightly heavier paper easier to spin. Plus, they’ll definitely hold up better if you’re infusing your joints with cannabis extracts like oil for example. At the end of the day, these are pretty unremarkable papers which is exactly what you want.
OVERALL VALUE
Pure Hemp sells these Classic Regular Size rolling papers on their website for $32 (USD) for a box that contains 25 booklets and 50 leaves inside each booklet.
In terms of overall value, some of this is subjective and really comes down to the personal preference of the user. If you prefer a slightly thicker paper or one made from hemp instead of trees then you’ll find this brand offers good value. But if you’re preference is something like Smoking’s Thinnest Mediums then you’re probably going to think these Pure Hemp are too thick.
