Island Honey from Pure Sunfarms is a sativa-dominant hybrid that was created by crossing a phenotype of Jack Herer with Early Pearl.
This flower has a natural stickiness which was one of the leading reasons for it’s name. It also features hints of honey (myrcene) but it also offers aromas and flavours of sweet spices (caryophyllene) and lemon curd (humulene). In terms of appearance, Pure Sunfarms says the leaves range in colour from bright fern to deep emerald green with amber hairs and a nice dusting of trichomes.

Smell
The product arrived in the same matte green plastic bag as previous Pure Sunfarms products. The name Island Honey made us think about Seven’s Island Sugar which was not a good experience. We ripped open the package expecting something sweet but the smell from the bag was weak and only after several deep inhales could we can confirm it was a floral aroma with a hint of black pepper at the end.
Appearance
We dumped out the contents and two things became very clear. First, Pure Sunfarms did not include a humidity pack inside the bag. Second, the buds were very dry and shaky but also dense. For the most part they were all quite small and dull in colour. To the naked eye they had a very dark green almost brown appearance with lots of red hairs but no significant trichome layer was visible.
Flavour
Island Honey’s flavour profile was nice but it could have been greatly improved if it wasn’t so dry. After a few exhales we started to detect the musky floral taste, which was very similar to the smell, complete with a faint hint of black pepper note at the end. Strangely nice but hard to enjoy because the smoke was harsh.
Experience
Listed with 16.7% THC content and a price tag of $22.95 for 3.5 grams, we found Island Honey from Pure Sunfarms packed a nice punch and offers good value. A couple of us were surprised at how strong the high was given it’s appearance and lower percentage of THC. It delivered a light mental fog that did not feel tiring combined with a strong body vibe focused facially as if you’d been wearing a sleeping mask for too long. Although this was a good product, we still prefer Pure Sunfarms Jet Fuel Gelato.

I checked my weed journal and I bought this late June 2020. 16.2%, weighed 3.37g, $20. The PSF offerings I’ve tried, no, they generally are a bit dry and lack any smell. Regardless, this was a perfectly fine mid-strength sativa and I liked it just fine. Never got it a second time, just too many other interesting sativas to try. Cheers.

Good feedback. Agree, pretty much every PSF product we’ve got is dry. Did you try their Blueberry Kush?

I’m not sure if a Blueberry Kush was offered by PSF in Alberta.. I did get an 8th of Edison’s Blue Velvet when it was out. 18.8%. It was perfectly nice.

Nice, I haven’t tried the Blue Velvet yet but it sounds great.
