Banana OG typically is an indica leaning hybrid that’s created by crossing OG Kush with Banana.
However this version from Qwest is described as having a bit Kush, some Haze and traces of Skunk in it’s genetics. The aroma is known to produce a sweet melon with under-ripe banana smell, but the flavour profile is closer to the classic sweet earthy kush taste. Qwest describes the buds are being dense, dark and medium in size with a thick trichome layer. We’re curious how this compares to other products from this brand like Qwest’s Ex-wife or their Sunset Mac.

Smell
The flower arrived in the same heavy glass container as previous Qwest products. We popped off the lid and took a deep inhale but were surprised the smell didn’t jump out much to greet us. We studied it a bit closer and finally noted a weak earthy herbal with very subtle hints of fruit (possibly banana or melon but hard to tell). This was actually surprising since the label says it was packaged in November 2021.
Appearance
While pouring out the contents we noticed Qwest included a humidity shield at the bottom of the jar; however despite these measures the buds felt a bit dry and crispy. The medium-sized buds were well trimmed, very dense and had good solid colours of orange and light green mixed with some dark green highlights. There was a bit of excess stem but that was offset by the twinkle of the trichome layer which is spread generously across the buds.
Flavour
The flavour profile described by Qwest is pretty much on point. Upon inhaling the bud starts off with a very light earthy note before finishing as a creamy dank herbal on exhale. The OG Kush part of its lineage is alive and strong.
Experience
Listed with 24.7% THC content and a price tag of $44.94 for 3.5 grams, we found Qwest’s Banana OG was indeed strong but like most of their products a bit overpriced. It delivered a mild mental cloud combined with a strong physical sensation as though you’re wearing many layers of clothing (thick skinned). However it doesn’t feel like the “couch-lock” level you’d expect based off the potency. If you’re not concerned about price then this one is worth checking out, but if you’re shopping on a budget there are better options out there.
