Redecan’s Mint Chip Gelato is a balanced hybrid that was created by crossing Green Cookies and Sinmint Cookies.
Normally this strain is called Mint Chocolate Chip and is known for having medium mini-pine-sized buds that are a firm dark olive green with furry orange hairs blanketed in a flurry of white trichomes. THC levels are generally under 20% with terpenes that includes carene, camphene and caryophyllene, this strain combines a rich earthy minted pine aroma mixed with sweeter floral notes and a spicy finish.
Let’s see how this flower compares to Emerald’s Chocolope or Solei’s Chocolate Cheescake.

Smell
Our Mint Chip Gelato from Redecan arrived in a medium black plastic bag with resealable zipper opening. We tore into the bag and detected a moderately strong aroma of earthy chocolate. There was suppose to be a minty element to the smell but unfortunately that was not noticeable. However the aroma did seem to linger in the room for a while after opening the package, which can make it a great strain for those who enjoy aromatherapy or simply enjoy the scent of cannabis.
Appearance
The front label on the bag contained the product name, THC and CBD percentage, lot number and package date. The back label did not contain anything useful except instructions on opening the bag. In terms of the buds, they were an assortment of small, medium and large in size with a dense, compact structure. Also covered in a thick layer of trichomes which gave this cannabis plant a frosty, glittery appearance. The light green colour of the leaves was accented by dark green and a few specks of deep purple hues, which is suppose to produce high levels of anthocyanin in the strain. The buds are also covered in bright orange hairs, which add to the overall visual appeal of the strain. This combination of colours creates a visually striking appearance that is sure to impress.
Flavour
We were hoping the flavour was a minty chocolate so we rolled a joint to put it to the test. The earthy notes were the most prominent on the inhale, with a creamy and smooth aftertaste. Unfortunately, much like the aroma, it was difficult to detect much of a minty element and even the chocolate was very muted. Overall this product still had a nice taste it just wasn’t the sweet dessert-like strain we were expecting.
Experience
Our bag was part of lot number 2752220817 with a package date of August 17, 2022. Listed with 18.4% THC content and a price tag of $24.95 for 3.5 grams, we found it delivered a well-rounded and balanced high. The high started with a mild lift of euphoria and energy that uplifts the mood and provides a creative spark. This was followed by a relaxing body high that soothes away tension and provides relief from physical pain. Although not the strongest strain we’ve reviewed, the effects were balanced, with neither the body high nor the cerebral high being too overpowering. Given the reasonable price, Redecan’s Mint Chip Gelato would be a good option if you’re looking for an affordable and balanced hybrid.
