Vovo is a sativa-dominant hybrid produced by the forward-thinking cannabis connoisseurs at Sacramento’s Seven Leaves through a custom mixture of its popular parents, Thin Mint Cookies and Sunset Sherbet.
It would be easy to write off this strain as just another famous offspring with a funny name, but Vovo impressively manages to stand on its own with a unique and pungent combination of fruity, creamy, and gassy components. While heavily reminiscent of several Gelato 41 descendants, it still maintains its own distinct nuances through an attractive balance of exotic genetics that help drive this strain to the front of the pack and make it a solid option for getting your engine revving.
It will be interesting to see how this stacks up to other sativa strains like Reveur’s Triangle Mints or LoLo’s Lemonade Slusheez.

Smell
The initial scent was pungent and sweet, with heavy herbal notes edging against the fruity touches of grape and lemon. There were also subtle hints of mint, wood, and a splash of gas, all wrapped in an overlying kush layer that added the classic skunk odor. The mixture was rather poetic and well-balanced, touching equally on all its bases of sweet, earthy, and musky tones.
Appearance
The nugs had a spade-shaped outer form that carried extremely distinct and vivid coloring. Varying shades of light and dark green were almost entirely drowned out by chunky deep purple patches, as well as rusty bronze-colored hairs and an immense presence of bright glimmering pistils. All together this gave the buds a rather exotic appearance, which paired nicely with its unique smell.
Flavour
The terpenes were sophisticated producing a nutty and gassy profile on first inhale, followed by a dose of grapes and the familiar baked sweetness of the cookie lineage, all coated in a mild herbal layer with an odd hint of cheese. The flavor had a surprisingly savory blend overall, despite the sweet chords, with additional hints of sage and mint combining together for a very smooth trip to the finish line.
Experience
My bag was labelled batch number SMALZ.04.072222 with a package date of July 22, 2022. Listed with 25.48% THC content with a price tag of $65 for 7 grams, I thought the high from Vovo was pretty well-balanced but definitely leaned into sativa territory a bit. Starting out with more of a mindful, heady edge before eventually leading to the relaxing indica side of the mix. I felt a quick and buzzing relief of stress and anxiety with an increase in focus and an uplifted mood, as well as a mild body tingle that slowly faded over time. The effects here seem to make this strain an optimal choice for daytime activities, if you’re looking for potent effects without being knocked into immobility. Vovo will definitely keep you moving down the road without getting you lost in the fog.
