Chocolate Cheesecake from Solei is a hybrid strain with a complex lineage that includes Chocolope, Russian Ghost Ruderalis and Legacy Skunk.
Solei describes this flower as having a very Kush-like aroma with hints of chocolate. We assume this is from a terpene combination that includes caryophyllene, humulene and limonene. The buds are dark, dotted with amber hairs and frosted in an even layer of trichomes. The name of this strain makes it intriguing, so how does Chocolate Cheesecake compare to Solei’s Super Lemon Haze?

Smell
The product arrived in an industry standard yellow plastic container with resealable security lid. The expectation was something Kush-like with hints of chocolate. We removed the top and immediately noted a mild sweet earthy floral with a subtle secondary aroma that was similar to those packets of sugarless baking chocolate powder. All in all a pretty close match to the description, just not as strong as you’d like.
Appearance
Solei included a humidity shield inside the container which no doubt helped keep the buds fresh. However when we dumped them out the first 3 words that come to mind were: fluffy, leafy and bushy. The dark and light green leaves combine nicely with the orange hairs, but the trichome layer was barely visible to the naked eye. Appearance obviously does not matter as the high, but if you were picking off looks alone you’d probably pass on this one.
Flavour
Out of all the strains we’ve reviewed to date, Solei’s Chocolate Cheesecake is one of the more unusual. Having rolled a nice ‘L’ paper, it was easy to discern the flavour profile. Initially what started as a dank earthy note transformed into unsweetened baking chocolate for a few brief moments and then ended on a creamy cheese note. I have to admit I was not expecting the flavour to match their description so closely. The points lost on appearance were made up for in taste.
Experience
The high was stronger then expected for 19.3% THC content. Currently list for $26.50 for 3.5 grams, we found it delivered a heavy body-leaning effect that was similar to goosebumps all over while. At the same time, we felt mentally calm and relaxed but a little foggy which is not too surprising given it’s lineage. The reasonable price, nice flavour and calming high are reasons to check this one out even though visually it’s nothing spectacular.
