GMO Cookies is an indica-dominant strain that was created when Girl Scout Cookies was crossed with the pungent Chemdawg.
However Spinach says you shouldn’t worry about the name GMO (Garlic, Mushroom, Onion) Cookies, it might sound unappealing but this strain is well known for a sweet and savoury flavour which makes it a favourite indica for many smokers. Growers report GMO Cookies produces light green, spade-shaped buds with an even frosting of white trichomes covering bright and vibrant orange hairs. Sounds great! Not long ago we reviewed Spinach’s Wedding Cake strain followed up by Rockstar Kush from Spinach and felt both were good quality especially when you factor in the low price point.
So how does this version of GMO Cookies compare to competing products like Melt’s GMO Cookiez?

Smell
Spinach’s recent products have been great especially considering the reasonable cost, so we’ve been looking forward to digging into their version of the popular GMO Cookies strain. After the lid came off was definitely were hit with a very pungent aroma of garlic and onions but it was balanced with a lovely sweet undertone. The smell might remind you of French Onion Sunchips and is a near perfect match for what you’d expect with this strain.
Appearance
Visually this product looked spot on The multiple shades of greens are vibrant with support from light orange hairs that are coated top to bottom in a super heavy trichome layer. However there was was no moisture shield inside the container (typical of Spinach) so those dense, beautiful buds dried out and became hard as little pebbles. But overall this one looks great and was obviously grown well.
Flavour
Spinach’s GMO Cookies is quite delicious as the distinct aroma mentioned above comes through on the palette offering an impressive yet curious flavour combination of sweet garlic onion with a mild sweet cookie undertone. This is one of those strains you read about and think must taste horrible, but when you try it you realize the opposite is true.
Experience
Listed with 26.7% THC content, GMO Cookies from Spinach scored well across the board especially when you consider it costs two thirds or even half of what other brands are charging. It delivered a very strong mental fog causing moments of reflective thought combined with a heavy body buzz that keeps us feeling lethargic. Expect a potent high so make sure you have time to sit and chill after smoking; users with low THC tolerance should probably avoid or go really easy. In terms of competing products, we liked this flower more then Edison’s GMO Cookies and Cali’s Garlic Cookies. If you’re looking for a stronger indica that costs under $30 a half quarter then you might want to check this one out from Spinach.
