When it comes to monsters, getting too close can be a daunting prospect. However, there is one exception that has caught our attention: Green Monster Breath from Spinach. This unique strain is the result of a creative blend between GMO Cookies and Animal Cookies.
With its pungent aroma and a candied strawberry flavour, and buds glistening with crystals, Green Monster Breath promises an exhilarating experience that engages all the senses. Like stepping into the lab of a brilliant, albeit slightly eccentric, scientist.
In this review, we’ll explore how it compares to Spinach’s GMO Cookies, as well as Camp River’s renowned Animal Cookies. Join us as we uncover the essence of this intriguing indica-dominant hybrid.
Smell
As we cracked open the lid, the smell hit us like a thunderous blow, leaving no room for subtlety. The fragrance was reminiscent of a peculiar fusion between sweet garlic and robust herbs. This is where the GMO influence makes its presence known, asserting its dominance. The scent lingers, creating an enticing and captivating atmosphere that beckons you closer to indulge in its mysterious allure.
Appearance
The flower arrived in an industry standard green plastic container with the front label containing important information like strain name, brand, THC and CBD volumes, package date, lot number as well as grower contact details. Accompanied by an Integra humidity pack, the packaging ensures the preservation of its precious contents.
Upon setting eyes upon the buds a hint of disappointment set in. Despite the inclusion of the humidity pack, the flower appeared bone dry. Its pale green leaves were interwoven with light orange pistils, presented an underwhelming sight. Nevertheless, a glimmer of excitement emerged as we noticed the substantial layer of trichomes adorning the surface, glistening like miniature diamonds. With a gentle press between our fingers, the flower effortlessly crumbled, eliminating the need for a grinder. This really spoke to the dryness of the buds, as they lacked the plumpness and moisture one would hope for.
While the actual appearance exceeded some of the photos we saw online, it would have been interesting to see how much more visually captivating it would have been in its fresher state.
Flavour
With anticipation, we rolled a perfectly crafted joint, bracing ourselves for what lay ahead. Given the dryness of the flower, we expected a harsh experience, and our expectations proved to be well-founded. The first puff revealed a notable harshness, confirming our initial suspicion.
Regrettably, the flavour profile did not live up to the intensity of the initial pungent aroma. Unlike the candied strawberry taste promised by Spinach, the flavours we encountered were disappointingly subdued. The anticipated sweetness seemed to have dissipated, leaving behind a muted and indistinct sensation. As the session progressed, we found ourselves frequently coughing, a consequence of the dryness of the flower. It is advisable to have a refreshing beverage on hand to alleviate any discomfort that may arise.
Experience
Our container was part of lot number 008455 with a package date of January 4, 2023. It contained 28.1% THC content with a price of $28.95 for 3.5 grams, we felt this was a reasonable deal for the strong high delivered but it could have been so much better if it wasn’t so dry.
Despite the muted flavour, we were pleasantly surprised by the strength of the high. As expected from an indica, Green Monster Breath delivered a nice wave of physical relaxation. Our muscles unwound, tension melted away, and a soothing calm enveloped our bodies. Cloudy thoughts danced through our minds, enhancing a sense of introspective pondering. One notable aspect of the high was the warm sensation that embraced our eyes and temples, adding a touch of physical comfort to the experience.
While we acknowledge that the dryness of the flower impacted the overall experience, the robust high still managed to captivate us. This strain possesses real potential if moisture content can be better preserved.
