UP describes their Cold Creek Kush strain as being a dark green indica flower with rich trichome density and amber pistils. This flower’s legendary parents, MK Ultra and Chemdawg which provide this strain with a strong THC potential with low CBD.
UP Cold Creek Kush is known for a distinct earthy aroma with sweet undertones of grape and citrus thanks to its terpene profile which includes ocimene, pinene and caryophyllene. If you’re curious, click here to learn how terpenes affect cannabis aroma, flavour and experience.
But let’s get to the important part… how does this strain compare to their other products like UP’s Ghost Train Haze?
Smell
The product arrived in a medium sized red bag with zipper seal. We tore open the stoplight red bag and were greeted with the smell of … earthy mud. It’s probably not going to win any awards for aroma. Immediately memories of exploring the riverbanks as a kid came back. Its a smell we won’t soon forget and jokingly dubbed this one “mud bud”.
Appearance
This strain from UP is fluffy and dry, light but dense, yet somehow also spongy. These buds are super photogenic as the pictures almost oversell the appearance. With multiple shades of green and some leafy grooming, the yellow trichomes and countering brown hairs make for its most admiring feature. Visually it’s decent but again nothing that will blow you away.
Flavour
This bud has a unique flavour profile for sure. A lightly spicy and mostly strong earthy tones dominate the palette accented ever so slightly with a green pepper-like sharpness. Everything about this strain is had a strong earthy connection which I guess makes sense given the name.
Experience
UP’s Cold Creek Kush delivers a very strong high that includes a thick mental fog – equivocal to “writer’s block” while giving the body a mild tingling sensation. However we were not big fans of the smell or taste which reminded us of riverbank mud (we actually termed this product mud bud will smoking). That being said, we realize some people enjoy earthy cannabis strains so it really comes down to your preference. Smokers who like sweet or skunky will probably prefer UP’s Northern Berry, but if you enjoy earthy or herbal then this one might be a good match.
