Gelato 29 from UP is a sativa-dominant strain with Gelato genetics.
The buds are fluffy light green with touches of purple, orange pistils, shiny white trichomes and a sweet terpene profile. In terms of flavour, many users describe the taste as a bold fruity and berry with hints of vanilla and sweet cream. Based off what we could research this strain’s dominant terpenes include Limonene and Trans-Caryophyllene. Like UP’s other flower, this cultivar is grown indoors at a facility in New Brunswick and guarantees to deliver at least 20% THC.
So how does this product stack up UP’s Ghost Train Haze or even the Gelatti hybrid from MSIKU?

Smell
It’s been a while since our last UP product review, but similar to their previous strains, Gelato 29 arrived in a medium-sized red bag with a resealable zipper opening. As we opened the package, a strong aroma caught our attention. Although it was challenging to pinpoint the exact scent, we would describe it as a sweet herbal fragrance with subtle notes of mint icing.
Appearance
The front label prominently displayed the brand and strain name, cannabinoid levels, lot number, package date, and the flower type. On the back side of the package, there was a simple diagram illustrating how to open the bag.
When we emptied the contents of the bag (unfortunately, it did not include a humidity shield), we were somewhat disappointed with the appearance. As you can see in the accompanying photos, the bag contained mainly small, shake-sized budlets, with only one medium-sized nug. The overall colour was a dull brownish-green olive, which didn’t contribute to its appeal. One positive aspect was the contrasting orange hairs atop a thick, frosty trichome layer. However, the overall bag appeal was rather average
Flavour
When it comes to flavor, Gelato 29 doesn’t quite match the intensity of its strong aroma. Nevertheless, the taste is somewhat enjoyable, reminding us of a mild to moderate sweet herbal mint flavor. However, the taste fades quite quickly after exhaling.
Experience
Our bag was part of lot number (L) AAA-113245-A with package date of December 20, 2021. Listed with 21.2% THC and a price tag of $26.95 for 3.5 grams, we found UP’s Gelato 29 offered decent value even though the product was a bit dry and flaky. In terms of overall experience, this flower delivered a strong high which included a sense of mental calm and clarity combined with a mild glassy or sleepy eyes feeling. If you’re looking for a reasonable priced sativa with a nice high and strong aroma then this flower might be worth checking out.
