Smell
The Rockstar strain from Versus was packaged in a light grey, resealable bag that is in line with industry standards. We had previously tried this strain from other brands and were curious to see how this particular version would compare. Upon opening the bag, a moderate and pleasant aroma of sweetness immediately greeted us. The sweetness was the dominant note, but as we took a few more whiffs, the aroma became a bit milder, revealing a subtle earthy herbal undertone.
Appearance
When inspecting the bag more closely, we noticed that a humidity shield has been used to preserve the freshness of the buds. The front of the package displays important information such as the brand name, product name, weight, THC vs CBD totals, contact details, package date, type of product and lot number. The back of the package features a simple diagram showing how to open the bag.
The buds themselves were bone dry and a mixture of light and dark greens coming in various sizes, ranging from tiny to medium. There are only a few hairs present, but they are well blended into the buds. A light layer of trichomes gives the buds a delicate sparkle when viewed under the right lighting. Overall, the appearance of the Rockstar buds from Versus is visually appealing, with a beautiful collage of colours and a subtle trichome layer.
Flavour
When smoking in a joint, we noticed that the sweetness from the aroma was much less prominent. On inhale, the sweet notes were replaced by the light earthy herbal scent that we had detected earlier. Although the taste was not strong, it was still present and would be perfect for those who prefer a more subtle taste in their marijuana. The weaker flavour profile makes it ideal for people who do not need an overpowering aroma or flavour to enjoy their cannabis experience.
Experience
Our Rockstar strain from Versus came from lot number VA092269.01 and was packaged on October 6, 2022. With a THC content of 16.13% and a price tag of $49.95 for 14 grams, we found that Versus offers a suitable option for those new to smoking cannabis. Our overall experience with the Rockstar strain was mild, but this could be attributed to our high THC tolerance from frequent daily use. There was a very gentle body high that had a minimal mental impact, making it a great choice for those new to smoking cannabis joints or for those who are new to cannabis in general. A few puffs of Rockstar should not overwhelm a first-time user and allow them to comfortably enjoy the experience.
