Elios Black Cherry Punch is an indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain made by crossing Purple Punch with Black Cherry Pie.
The result was a plant with a strong THC potency and a terpene profile that includes limonene, beta-and trans caryophyllene, linalool and humulene. As a result you can expect a distinct flavour profile that is full of sweet cherry flavours with fruity floral undertones. Due to the elevated levels of THC (generally around 20-25%), this strain is not recommended for consumers with a low tolerance.
Black Cherry Punch buds are a rich dark green colour with purple specs dotting the leaves and stark orange hairs. Elios says on their website that they grow this strain indoors, using a proprietary grow system, then hang dried, hand trimmed and cured until just right. But how does Black Cherry Punch from Elios compare to Redecan’s version or Edison’s strain?
Smell
The product arrived from Elios in an industry standard black plastic container with security lid. Unfortunately Elios did not include a moisture pack so this batch of Black Cherry Punch was extremely dry. As a result, the delicious black cherry aroma this strain is so widely know for was present but not nearly as strong as with other brands.
Appearance
Even though it was bone dry, this strain always seems to be visually stunning. A mix of light and dark green buds with specks of purple throughout, fiery orange hairs and a thick coating of trichomes. Clearly Elios has done a nice job cultivating this product which makes us wonder why they don’t include a terpene shield/moisture pack so the plant does not dry out before arriving.
Flavour
This is when the disappointment really began to set in… Elios’ Black Cherry Punch is so dry that much just like it’s mild smell the flavour was even more faint (especially when comparing against other brands Black Cherry Punch products). All we could get was a mild sweetness with a strange piney undertone towards the end. This is disappointing because the smell and flavour of Black Cherry Punch are some it’s best assets.
Experience
Black Cherry Punch from Elios is okay. The high was very strong but still not the strongest we’ve seen. It can best be described as a balanced mind and body buzz. However if we had reviewed this as our first Black Cherry Punch product then we honestly would have thought this was a was decent strain but average and then moved on. Long story short, there are better versions of Black Cherry Punch available.
