Tweed Houndstooth Soda is a carbonated drink that is infused with THC from a sativa-dominant flower.
As each can only contains 2 mg of THC, we had to find a volunteer as our tolerance is way to high for any of the edibles being sold at licensed retailers. So for this review we had a willing female friend who’d never tried edibles to determine if this product was a smash or trash.
So how does this drink compare to Cann’s Cannabis Social Tonic?
Smell
The product arrived from Tweed in a tall narrow black can similar to what you see from some energy drinks. We cracked it open and not surprisingly did not detect any smell, however since this product is essentially soda water there probably shouldn’t be much aroma.
Appearance
If you’ve seen one carbonated water, you’ve literally seen them all. This one is not tinted in any way shape or form but one can admire the amount of carbonation as it is fizzy. Unless you like watching bubble there isn’t much to report here.
Flavour
Since it’s soda water you can guess that there is no taste and normally you’d be right. With this beverage, you only get a very faint taste of what can only be the Houndstooth as lemongrass and it accumulates in a negative way the more you consume. Thankfully there isn’t much of it!
Tweed lists the following ingredients: Carbonated water, distilled cannabis™ terpene blend (vegetable glycerin, monoglyceride, soy lecithin, sucrose monopalmitate, cannabis distillate, cannabis terpenes), calcium disodium EDTA, potassium citrate, natural flavour.
Experience
Listed with 2mg of THC content and a price tag of $2.95 for 355mL, we found Tweed’s Houndstooth & Soda was a good beginner introduction to the effects of cannabis as the effects lasted about 15 minutes. When we say effects what we mean is uncontrolled giggles. While it took about 1 hour for the effects to take hold, it was consumed in about 5 minutes and had an unpleasant aftertaste. A light THC infused soda drink for those new, inexperienced and curious to know what all the fuss is about in a safe manner.
