Cake & Caviar’s Waffle Bites is a hybrid strain derived from it’s name sake cultivar Cake which was then crossed with the classic Sour OG.
The company promises this eighth will be rich in terpenes and smell like buttery maple syrup waffles with hints of sharp cream cheese. The flavour profile is described as containing elements of both sweet and savoury which sounds delicious. So let’s see how this flower stacks up to their Black Pearl strain.

Smell
After cracking open the glass jar I instantly could smell a lovely sweet aroma likely from the linalool and myrcene with a hint of spice that was like a cinnamon sugar type of waffles. In addition, the secondary undertone had a tinge of sourness that could be likened to cream cheese. People who like cheesy and dessert-scented cultivars will enjoy the smell a lot; it would just be nice if this cultivar was a little stronger in the scent department.
Appearance
The buds were beautiful just like Cake and Caviar’s Black Pearl. In terms of colour, the nug’s were a dark forest green tone with specks of bright green and lots of shining orange hairs to compliment the varying shades of green. There was also a light frosting of trichomes that were a clear milky colour and seemed to be well developed.
Flavour
When I consumed this flower using two different tabletop vaporizers, the Arizer Extreme Q or a Storz and Bickel Volcano, I found the taste was not very strong through either machines. The flavour profile that come through most prominent was a very floral and woody taste, almost like you’re sitting by a meadow near a forest. The taste was nice but like the aroma I’d like to see this a tad stronger.
Experience
My jar of Waffle Bites from Cake & Caviar had a package date of April 13, 2022 and was part of lot number (L) 26367. Listed with 26.36% THC content and a price of $44.95 for 3.5 grams, I felt it delivered a strong and very focused uplifting experience. I imagine this would be great for a hike or some kind of activity with friends. However I don’t recommend watching anything on TV unless you can afford to lose track of time. While the bud looks amazing, the flavour and the smell just weren’t as strong as Black Pearl especially at this premium price. But it’s still worth picking up to try especially since Cake and Caviar can be harder to find.
