Liiv Greatest Apex of All Time is the hybrid strain Apex OG, a cross between Legendary Larry and Garlic Chem.
From what we could learn this flower supposedly has a thick layer of crystals, dense buds with an extremely pungent, dank and gassy nose that includes notes of earthy citrus. Let’s see how this one compares to Liiv’s Something About Larry or their Route 66.
Smell
During our experience with Liiv’s Greatest Apex of All Time, we were initially taken aback by its powerful aroma. Contrary to our expectations, this strain proved incredibly fragrant. Upon cracking open the seal, an intense and captivating scent instantly enveloped the air. The aroma exuded a pungent and dank essence, accompanied by notable gassy undertones. These elements combined to create an intriguing and enticing olfactory experience. The potency of the aroma pleasantly surprised us, adding to the overall allure. It was clear from the very beginning this strain would be far more interesting than we had expected.
Appearance
Upon receiving the flower, we noticed that it came in a medium-sized blue bag, which prominently displayed important information on the front label. This included details such as the strain’s lineage, dominant terpenes, package date, cannabinoids, lot number, and contact information of the grower. However, the back side of the bag was left blank, devoid of any additional details or graphics.
In terms of appearance, the buds exhibited excellent bag appeal. They showcased a delightful light green colour, which immediately caught our attention. They were compact and dense, demonstrating the care that went into their cultivation. The trim job was exceptional, with minimal excess leaf material remaining on the buds. This attention to detail was indicative of a well-crafted product.
What truly stood out visually was the impressive layer of trichomes blanketing the buds. The abundance of resinous crystals created a shimmering effect, indicating the strain’s potency. Grinding the buds proved to be a bit challenging, as the trichome layer was so thick that the grinder struggled to break it down.
Flavour
When it came to the flavour profile of Liiv’s Greatest Apex of All Time, we found that it aligned closely with our expectations, albeit with a slightly milder intensity compared to its aroma. After rolling up a joint and taking a few deep draws, we were greeted by a musky dank taste with underlying gassy undertones. It mirrored the scent, but with a more subdued sharpness.
The smoking experience was rather smooth, with minimal coughing or harsh sensations while inhaling. The smoke delivered a pleasurable and enjoyable experience, allowing us to fully appreciate the flavour profile without discomfort.
Experience
Our bag was part of lot number 996401 and packaged on January 25, 2023. This particular batch boasted a THC content of 24.0% and a price tag of $99.98 for 28 grams, which we found to be a reasonable deal considering the potent high it delivered.
The overall experience was characterized by a physically relaxing high. While not overwhelming, it provided a sense of relaxation without inducing sedation or fatigue. It offered a pleasant balance that allowed us to unwind and enjoy the effects without feeling overly incapacitated. One aspect worth mentioning is that there was a slight mental cloudiness. This could potentially become distracting if consumed during the day or when mental clarity is required. For those seeking a strain to unwind and relax in the evening or during downtime, this aspect may be less of a concern.
Considering the price point of under a hundred dollars for an ounce, Liiv’s Greatest Apex of All Time provides excellent value, particularly for those on a budget. This review is the fourth flower we’ve tried from Liiv and by far it is our favourite.
