Chem OG from Muskoka Grown is a flower with great genetics as it was created by crossing Chemdog 91 and San Fernando Valley OG.
As you might expect by the name, this cultivar is known for producing a strong gas aroma that is accented by subtle hints of citrus and earthy herbs. Much like the pungent smell, Chem OG also delivers a skunky flavour with undertones of burned rubber. Muskoka Grown says the buds are smaller in size and tightly-wound but coated in a thick layer silver trichomes. The leaves are bright in colour with specks of purple throughout and light orange hairs.
So how does Chem OG compare against Muskoka Grown’s other products like their Glueberry OG strain?

Smell
Previous Muskoka Grown products arrived in a tuna can style container, however Chem OG was packaged in a black bag with resealable opening. Based off the description we were expecting a pungent aroma when we cracked the seal, but once the bag was torn open we only detected a moderately strong herbal chemmy aroma. It seemed to dissipated very quickly or we adjusted incredibly quickly. After this initial burst, follow up sniffs reveal only a weak herbally grass scent. Unfortunate as the aroma is one of this strains main selling features.
Appearance
There was no humidity shield include inside the bag, however given the stringy, tiny, and fluffy appearance we don’t know if it would have mattered much. This batch of Chem OG is leafy and dry which is surprising as previous products from this brand have been quite good. The pictures make this bud look better than in person.
Flavour
The flavour profile and smell are a close match however the flavour does seem to be a tad stronger. In terms of taste, it wasn’t pungent of strong but closer to a herbally grass with mild undertones of gas. Maybe including a terpene/humidity shield would have improved the smell and flavour. As it stands, both were very average at best.
Experience
We expected more from Muskoka Grown’s Chem OG strain. Listed as having 24.6% THC with a price of $32.95 for 3.5 grams, we found it delivered a mild mental cloud that prevented any deep thoughts while at the same time creating a moderately strong couch-lock where you’re body wants to stay put. While not overpowering, it would be more ideal for end of day use instead of start. Overall the high was good but we were disappointed by the lack of aroma and flavour.
