Tweed Powdered Donuts is an indica-dominant strain that is the result of crossing Jet Fuel Gelato with Orange Cookies.
In terms of aroma and flavour profile, Tweed indicates many users report a sweet and citrus floral taste including hints of lavender and berries on exhale. In addition, the buds are tight with orange highlights and a thick layer of trichomes. Of course the advertising always sounds wonderful but let’s see how it smokes. And how does it compare to their other products like Tweed’s Green Cush or their Afghan Kush?
Smell
We’ve tried many Tweed products and this one is the first that didn’t come in their square metal tin. Instead it arrived in an industry standard blue plastic bag with resealable zipper opening. We tore into the package and were quite impressed with the smell it released. It’s best compared to a very strong sweet icing-sugar coated donuts! Mmmmm. Donuts. We actually prefer this smell over Indiva’s Powdered Donuts which we reviewed not long ago.
Appearance
We dumped out the contents and quickly noticed Tweed did not include a humidity pack inside the bag. This is unfortunate as the buds have become quite dry and flaky. However they did still have a nice trichome layer and multiple shades contrasting each other are the first things that meets the eye. Then our attention switched to the leafiness and stemmy aspects before settling on just how tiny the buds were – think of them as budlets – approx. fingernail in size.
Flavour
In terms of flavour profile, we found it pleasantly matched the aroma and was stronger (in our opinion) than Indiva’s version of this strain. No question there is definite sweet icing-sugar element to this flower before a more robust donut bread flavour comes through. A nice tasting bud that certainly would only be made better if Tweed included a humidity shield.
Experience
Listed with 24.0% THC content and a price tag of $26.95 for 3.5 grams, we found this Tweed’s Powdered Donuts strain to deliver a solid experience at a reasonable price. It produced a moderately strong high that included a mild calming state that was cerebral and relaxing while also creating moderately strong tingles throughout the body. If you’re looking for a stronger indica with a nice flavour, then you might want to check this one out given the price point. Just expect the bud to be dry.
