Cocoa Bomba from Spinach is a hybrid that was created when Do-Si-Dos was crossed with Lava Cake.
The end result was a cultivar described as having a rich, chocolatey aroma and an earthy flavour profile. Plus the growers at Spinach say the buds are dense, dark in colour and absolutely caked in a thick layer of frosty trichomes while containing over 22% of THC content.
Let’s see how this compares to Spinach’s Wedding Cake which is their other hybrid we reviewed last year.

Smell
When ordered the only option available was the 28 gram bag so the product obviously arrived in a large green bag with resealable zipper opening. We cracked open the seal and detected a mildly enticing earthy aroma with a very subtle undertone of what seemed to be baking chocolate. However this secondary aroma was nearly invisible which could partly be from the dry condition of the flower (more on this next).
Appearance
Unfortunately like usual Spinach did not include a humidity shield inside the bag so the buds arrived in an extremely dry state. In terms of size they were mostly medium size, very dense, dark greens and purple with a very thick trichome layer. For some reason the appearance reminded us of Back Forty’s Mandarin Cookies. Visually it looked quite nice except for the fact it was bone dry which no doubt affected the aroma and likely the taste as well.
Flavour
The flavour profile was described as featuring earthy and cakey elements with hints of chocolate and although the earthy taste was very much present the flavour overall was very much lacking. For the most part this product didn’t have much taste which again we can assume has to do with the extremely dry condition of the bud. It’s really confusing why they’d grow such a nice flower without caring how it arrives to the customer.
Experience
Our bag was labelled lot number 007019 and packaged on May 31, 2022. Listed with 22.6% THC content and a price tag of $31.95 for 3.5 grams (or $139.95 for 28 grams), we found Spinach’s Cocoa Bomba delivered a strong balanced high. After smoking a decent sized joint we felt a heady cerebral buzz combined with a moderately strong body vibe sensation. Overall a decent hybrid except it would be nice if Spinach would focus on more efficient ways to keep their flower fresh.
