Not long ago we reviewed Wagners Cherry Jam strain and rated it above average. However many community members told us they felt this rating was a bit low, so we figured now was a good time to try this brand again.
Today we’re looking at Wagners Dark Helmet, a hybrid strain that was created by crossing Jawa Pie with Forum Cut GSC (Girl Scout Cookies). They describe it as giving off a distinct earthy herbal aroma with subtle hints of sweet, buttery baked goods. In terms of the flavour profile, the smoke is apparently smooth with a taste similar to lemon and spearmint. The buds are dense, dark and are often spotted with purples hues combined with thick orange hairs. This sounds wonderful but how does Wagners Dark Helmet smoke?

The product arrived in a smaller sized white plastic bag with resealable zipper top. Opening the seal released very little in terms of aroma. Even taking deep inhales we found it hard to hammer down the exact smell, it was very faint and reminded us of dry lemon peels. Like when the fruit has dried out but still has hints of the original aroma, that is exactly what this one felt like.
We definitely have mixed feelings about the appearance of the buds. On one hand, their size was nice, okay trim job, nice bright colours with a few dark tones of green and purple. But on the flip side, stem, after stem, after stem. An average showing at best, but could’ve scored much higher.
The flavour profile of this strain seems to be a bit sneaky. The strength is mild which works to its advantage. It starts with a touch of lemon then darkens towards a earthy black pepper. Luckily the black pepper taste is not harsh and given the contrast to the lemony start is actually a nice ending.
Wagners Dark Helmet is listed at 21.4% THC with a price of $31.96 for 3.5 grams. It delivered a mild to moderate high that combined a very light mental/cerebral high with a moderate body buzz that focused around the eyes. On the positive side of things it left us feeling relaxed and a bit tired, but on the negative side the buzz seem to disappear very quickly. I don’t think we would buy this one again, it wasn’t terrible but given the price you can find better.
