Broken Coast Platinum Garlic Review

Broken Coast's Platinum Garlic is a hybrid strain with over 21% THC content, a strong garlic smell and dense frosty buds.

Broken Coast is part of the Tilray network and are based in Duncan, BC with a focus on growing small batches in single room warehouses.

Unfortunately Broken Coast Platinum Garlic wasn’t listed on their website which makes me think it’s possibly a one-off cultivar or brand new. Regardless it should be interesting to see if this hybrid strain (which is a cross between the popular GMO and Platinum cultivars) compares well to similar flowers like Garlic Jelly or GMO Cookies.

Smell

Broken Coast’s Platinum Garlic has a strong cannabis aroma which fit the name quite nicely. I thought it had a powerful dank garlic smell with strong undertones of citrus and hops which makes sense given limonene is one of the dominant terpenes. Interestingly though when I consumed using one of my vaporizers I found the smell had a woodsy component on exhale.

Appearance

This cultivar arrived in a small black plastic container with resealable security lid and a shield to protect the terpenes. Broken Coast only printed minimal information on the label including the product name, THC contents (21.8%) and CBD contents (0.7%). The flower itself looked great as the leaves had a dark purplish hue with bright orange pistils. The crystal trichomes were also highly visible to the naked eye and when I used a jeweller’s loupe to examine it, the milky amber colouring became very clear.

Flavour

Much like the smell, I found the flavour profile of Platinum Garlic led with a very strong garlic taste that reminded me of garlic chips. This taste was present when I consumed with my dry herb vaporizers and by rolling a joint. Of note, we detected a hint of earth aftertaste which was a nice compliment of the garlic flavour but was very subtle. I can see how users who prefer sweet tasting weed will likely not love this one but I still immensely enjoyed the strong flavour profile.

Experience

My container was packaged on April 20, 2022 and was part of lot number 2880134721. It came listed with 21.8% THC content and a price tag of $36.99 for 3.5 grams. Overall I found Broken Coast’s Platinum Garlic high was perfect for a day (or night) of adventures as it produced an uplifting yet relaxing experience. However given the fact this eighth cost nearly 40 dollars I know some users will feel it is overpriced but. in this case, that premium price tag was backed up by a great quality flower that’s worth checking out if you’re looking for a new strain to try. I would like to see Broken Coast spring for a glass container as these plastic jars tend to degrade the product quality quickly.

Coming to you straight out of British Columbia, I have been consuming cannabis since high school and joined the legal market as a budtender in late 2021. Showcasing the craft, the dank, and the shake of the West Coast market. As a daily consumer I go for products that have a tasty flavour profile, deliver a good quality high, with a price point that won’t hurt the bank account. Now let’s blast some Mother Mother and get ready to laugh like Seth Rogen.
