Tsunami is HEXO’s rendition of the highly sought-after Northern Berry strain. This unique hybrid is the result of a skillful cross between Northern Lights and Blueberry, crafted to deliver an exceptional cannabis experience like no other.
This flower supposedly has a distinctive mix of terpenes, encompassing delightful notes of mango, lemon grass, hops, and thyme from its myrcene content. Additionally, they said to expect a fusion of black pepper, cloves, and balsam, thanks to the presence of caryophyllene. We’re curious how this ones compare to rivals like UP’s Northern Berry or Tam Tams Strawberry Guava. Prepare yourself for an unparalleled journey with Tsunami by HEXO.
Smell
As soon as we opened the package, we were hit by a wave of wonderful scents, just like a Tsunami at the beach. The smell was super nice, like yummy sweet berries that we wanted to eat right away!
It was like being surrounded by the best berries we could imagine – so fresh and juicy! The sweet notes were really strong, making us think of delicious strawberries and blueberries on a sunny day. But that’s not all! There was something special in the air, a hint of flowers like thyme and lemon grass, adding even more excitement to the mix.
Each time we took a sniff, we discovered something new, like going on a journey through a berry-scented paradise. It was a smell that made all of us curious and excited to try it out. Whether you’re new to this or already know a lot about cannabis, Tsunami’s smell will grab your attention and make you eager to explore more.
Appearance
Upon closer inspection, Tsunami’s appearance is truly captivating. The buds are adorned with a generous coating of frosty trichomes which are a clear sign of the flower’s resinous potency and potential cannabinoid content.
The color palette is a delightful combination of lush greens and earthy browns, intermingling to create a visually appealing contrast. The deep green hues evoke images of flourishing forests, while the subtle hints of brown offer a touch of rustic charm.
One of the standout features is the buds’ impressive density and solidity. Each bud feels substantial and tightly packed, a testament to the careful cultivation and expert craftsmanship that went into growing Tsunami. Running my fingers over the buds, I could feel their firmness, assuring me of their freshness and potency.
Flavour
When it comes to flavor, Tsunami offers a unique and enjoyable taste experience. While the taste may not be overwhelmingly strong, it presents a pleasant combination of woody notes with a delicate hint of berries, creating a balanced and mellow taste that is sure to appeal to a wide range of palates.
The initial impression is one of subtle earthiness, reminiscent of a peaceful forest setting. The woody undertones give Tsunami a sense of natural authenticity, almost like taking a leisurely stroll through a serene woodland.
One of the standout aspects of Tsunami’s flavor is how it compares to similar strains in the market. In this case, we found the berry taste in Tsunami to be notably superior when compared to Haven St’s Northern Berry strain, which they market under the name No. 421 Twilight. Tsunami’s berry essence felt more authentic and refined, providing a more enjoyable and satisfying taste experience.
Experience
The experience with Tsunami goes above and beyond, leaving a lasting impression that is well worth the price. With a potent THC content of 24.77%, this strain delivers several remarkable qualities, making it a great option.
From the very first inhale, the high hits with a powerful force, engulfing the senses in a euphoric wave. The intensity of the high enhances the overall experience, making it ideal for those seeking a potent and impactful journey. The uplifting effects are almost immediate, bringing about a sense of happiness and relaxation that is hard to resist.
The cerebral effects of Tsunami are particularly notable, as it stimulates creativity and encourages a sense of focus and inspiration. It’s a strain that can effortlessly elevate a social gathering or spark a burst of productivity during creative pursuits.
In comparison to other strains available on the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), Tsunami stands out as one of the better options at its price point. The quality of the high aligns perfectly with the price, making it a smart investment for those seeking a top-notch cannabis experience without breaking the bank.
Barb
Is this the same strain as the UP20 Northern Berry? If it is, you guys rated the northern berry a lot lower than the Tsunami.
Just saying.

Hi Barb! Great question. The strain is likely the same but we’ve noticed quite a bit of variance between brands (even though they are growing the same plant). That difference was one of the reasons we started the site – we wanted to track the quality not only of strains but the specific growers too.
