Potluck’s Pineapple Express is a sativa-dominant strain that was created when Trainwreck was crossed with Hawaiian.
This strain is the one that rose to fame in 2008 thanks to the Seth Rogen movie of the same name. Although not known for crazy high THC percentages, most users describe the flavour of Pineapple Express as a rich combination of bright citrus notes infused with and undertone of earthy pine and herbal pineapples. Let’s see how it compares to Spinach’s Pineapple Paradise or Pineapple Upside Down from BC Black.

Smell
The flower arrived from Potluck in small green plastic bag with resealable zipper opening. We cracked the seal and could detect a moderately strong sweet yet still earthy aroma with a subtle undertone of what seemed to be pine. Sad to say there was not much of a pineapple element to the smell, but from what we could learn that’s not uncommon with this flower. The cannabis aroma was average overall and falls somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Appearance
We dumped out the contents and were happy to see they included an Integra Boost humidity pack which definitely did a good job keeping a certain amount of freshness in the buds. They had a squishy and sticky feel when we squeezed them and also were a bit difficult to grind which was not a big deal. We thought the buds looked better compared to Potluck’s Frosted Cherry strain. Our biggest compliant would be the excess leaf and steam on some of the larger sized buds even though they were quite a dense trichome layer. Visually this product is a little above average.
Flavour
The flavour was probably the biggest disappointment with this product. Not because it tasted bad, but because there was not much taste at all. We’d hoped there would be a sweet earthy pineapple component (like Good Buds Mango Taffie) but that was not the case. Instead this flower had a very bland flavour profile that reminded us of generic, average cannabis.
Experience
Our bag was part of lot PAE0622 with a package date of August 2, 2022. Listed with 18.1% THC content and a price tag of $35.95 for 7 grams, we felt this sativa offered some value especially if you’re buying a budget. The high definitely included a certain uplifting element but this passed quickly so we think users with higher tolerances might need something a little stronger. However given the reasonable price point if you’re looking for lighter strains or just curious about this strain then this one might be worth checking out.
